Tour Hosts Conference and Exhibition Organisers win Platinum Award

Professional Conference Organiser Tour Hosts accepted on behalf of their clients, the prestigious National Award for Meeting of the Year Less than 500 delegates presented by The Meetings Events Industry Association (MEA). The Award is the premier accolade of best industry management practice and outstanding performance in the Australian meetings and events industry and was presented at the MEA Convention on the Gold Coast on Saturday, 20th April to Tour Hosts for the management of the 4th International Skull Base Congress. The Congress was held in November 2004 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre and a satellite meeting held on the beautiful Hayman Island. As 90% of attendees came from overseas, the event attracted millions of dollars in spending to Australia during the delegates stay.
The 4th International Skull Base Congress received the award for Meeting of the Year Less than 500 delegates and The Platinum Award, which is the leading national award winner of 2005. The Congress was an exciting international event attracting pre-eminent head and neck surgeons to Australia and showcasing our national advances in the field plus giving our local industry the opportunity to network with the best in the world. The conference program was exceptional as it contained four live cadaver dissections projected in 3D to all delegates.
Conference President and Chairman Professor Paul Fagan said “A critical component of the scientific program was the cadaver dissections which required sourcing of top specimens, installation of equipment, government department approvals and appropriate licenses plus expert audio visual support to project the 3D imaging. Staging the dissections outside of a hospital, your team overcame significant barriers and red-tape via thorough research, solid planning, initiative and through the strength of your relationship with the venue and other suppliers.”
Tour Hosts Managing Director Roslyn McLeod OAM said “We consider our clients to be our partners. This national award is the result of a gratifying partnership with our client that has spanned over 5 years and continues and grows as we manage other surgical meetings in the field.”
Professor Fagan agreed that the partnership was the key to success stating “Ours was a relatively small organising committee of four doctors and we relied on your team for advice, guidance and taking care of all the logistics. Tour Hosts worked seamlessly with the Organising Committee providing an efficient service that was a pleasure to work with. We were a strong team together.”
As well as providing personal and business-specific satisfaction, the aim of the MEA Awards is to raise the overall standard of practice within the meetings industry and to recognise excellence. According to the National Business Events Survey the meetings industry contributes to $17.3 billion to Australia every year.
