Forget The Oscars – The Mea Awards Are Here!
It has been a fantastic week for Tour Hosts with the news that we are the winners of the 2006 Northern Territory MEA award for ‘Meeting of the Year’ over 500 delegates, as well as the NSW MEA award for Meetings Manager of the Year, 8 or more employees.
Meeting of the Year, over 500 delegates (NT)
This was a joint win with the Alice Springs Convention Centre and the Northern Territory Convention Bureau for ISPPD5 (2005) – the International Symposium on Pneumococci and Pneumococcal Diseases.
P&P diseases result in the death of over 1 million children annually, and the symposium was a crucial opportunity for the most learned experts from around the world to meet and share their knowledge and experience to address this serious issue through the development of a Global Action Plan.
The unique location of the event was a particular drawcard for delegates, and the opening sunset reception, which included a traditional indigenous Australian welcome, was extremely well received.
Tour Hosts established a fantastic relationship with the client, who were a delight to work with both pre-conference and onsite. The entire event ran without issue, and delivered a great financial outcome for all involved.

We were extremely excited to win this award for best meetings management company, and Roslyn proudly accepted our award on behalf of the company, her thank you address being cited as "the best speech of the night" and receiving loud cheers of our table of 10.
Both of these awards carry Tour Hosts through to the National finals in April, and we wait with excitement and anticipation to hopefully share some good news in the very near future!
Who’s Who? Tour Hosts is who!
Tour Hosts is privileged and honoured to be the featured organisation on the cover of the 2007 edition of 'Who's Who', the national guide to the meetings and events industry published annually by Meetings and Events Australia. Each year, the honour of appearing on the cover of this essential publication is bestowed upon the most recent recipient of the MEA 'Platinum Award', and Tour Hosts was thrilled to be selected as that recipient in 2006. The Platinum Award is open to national winners of any of the year’s award categories (except individual and research awards), and is conferred upon the organisation that submitted the best overall submission.
