Submission Instructions
Please read through the submission instructions listed below before preparing your abstract.
Step 1: Read the General Policies and Requirements for the submission of abstracts.
Step 2 Write your abstract following the Abstract Submission Guidelines. Please note – it is imperative that all abstract submitters use the template provided on this website. Incorrect submissions will be returned for the necessary edits.
Step 3: Download template and insert/add your abstract text. Save as a WORD document to your computer (Abstracts must not exceed 300 words, including references).
Step 4: Click on the button belowto complete the Abstract Submission Form. It will be necessary to attach/upload the WORD copy of your abstract.

- Please print a copy of the abstract submission form for your records prior to clicking the ‘upload’ button.
Format of Abstract
Abstracts will be published as submitted – therefore, all submissions must conform to the Abstract Format Guidelines.
* Accepted abstracts will be published in the Congress proceedings.
* The Congress Managers will not be held responsible for abstract submissions not received via the website or for submission errors caused by Internet service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or unforeseen events.
Submission Guidelines
- All abstracts are to be submitted by the presenting author.
- All abstracts must be original work.
- The purpose of the abstract is to define the precise subject of the presentation to an audience or for clinical cases, to clearly describe the case for the selection panel.
- All submissions will be electronic. If you are unable to submit in this manner, please contact the Congress Managers at racp@tourhosts.com.au or phone: + 61 2 9265 0700 for further information.
- The presenting author should complete all fields on the online submission form.
- All Trainees and Fellows of the RACP, members of IMSANZ, members of the Chapter of Community Child Health; affiliate members of the Chapter of Community Child Health’s Special Interest Groups and members of the Paediatric Society of New Zealand are eligible to submit abstracts.
- A person involved in significant research who is not an RACP Trainee or Fellow may also submit an abstract. Please refer to Awards/Prizes for eligibility criteria.
- Please print a copy of the abstract submission form for your records prior to clicking the submit button.
- The presenting author will be required to register for the Congress in order to ensure their abstract(s) is included in the oral/poster program. Deadline for presenting author registration is 21 March 2008.
- Abstracts must not exceed 300 words, including references
- All abstracts must be prepared according to the guidelines provided. Incomplete or incorrect submissions or submissions that exceed the 300 word limit may be returned to the author to be resubmitted in the correct format for inclusion in the program.
- The presenting author must complete and submit a Disclosure Statement on submission of their abstract/s
- The reviewers reserve the right to move abstract submissions between related areas of the Program. For example an abstract may be shifted from a Free Paper Presentation to an Award session or a Poster presentation.
- Each abstract can only be submitted once. The same abstract cannot be submitted for consideration in different award prize/free paper categories.

Abstract Format Guidelines
Title
The abstract title should be short, informative and contain the major key words. It should be in upper case, Arial, BOLD, 12 pt size, and right and left justified.
Authors
Abstract Titles should be followed by authors’ last name and first initial (with the presenting author in bold). Superscript numbers must be used to indicate the author’s institution, followed by city and state (in this order). Do not include degrees or professional titles (e.g. Dr, Prof., etc).

Abstract text
- Abstract text must be in Arial, 10pt size, single-spaced and justified.
- Abstracts are to be a maximum of 300 words, including references.
- There is to be a maximum of 2 references.
- Use standard abbreviations only. Within the body of the abstract, when using abbreviations spell out the name in full at the first mention and follow with the abbreviation in parenthesis. Abbreviations may be used in the title, provided the name in full is outlined in the body of the abstract.
- Capitalise the first letter of trade names.
Compliance to the specifications is imperative - any abstract that does not comply with these specifications will not be accepted for review.
