Invitation
As the clock ticks down to the 15th World Congress on Medical
Law, the organisers have been buoyed by the number and calibre
of abstracts submitted. Representatives of approximately forty
countries have submitted abstracts with many offering more than
one abstract, thereby making this the first meeting of the World
Association for Medical Law which will have both an active platform
presentation program and an effective program of posters. This
will accommodate the incredible amount of information that is to
be shared amongst the participants.
The organising committee has kept the tried and true formula of
plenary sessions, concurrent presentations and workshops but has
added to that the poster presentations with dedicated time for
participants to view the posters and discuss their content with
the representative author.
The organisers have developed a price structure which includes
a student registration fee to encourage overseas students to taste
the best that the world has to offer and to give them a purpose
and direction for their future career planning.
The Australian College of Legal Medicine, as the local host, has
been pleased to receive the support of international bodies such
as the International Council of Nurses; the World Health Organisation
and the American College of Legal Medicine, to prepare this most
exciting Congress on behalf of the World Association for Medical
Law. We invite all like-minded people to attend the 15th World
Congress on Medical Law to be held in Darling Harbour, one of the
truly premier congress venues in the world, in Sydney, Australia
which is also undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in the
world. Delegates will have the confidence of knowing they are coming
to a safe environment in a vibrant city in a country that has a
proud heritage of scientific achievement, sporting excellence and
internationally renowned landmarks both manmade and gifts from
nature.
As promised in Maastricht, if more than 100 delegates register
to attend a meeting to follow the Sydney Congress we would be pleased
to organise a satellite Congress in Cairns, Queensland, to allow
an academic environment in which to visit the Great Barrier Reef
and witness first hand one of Nature's truly amazing gifts to this
great country.
I conclude this invitation with the well-known Australianism of "G'Day
Mate" and "See Ya Down-Under!"
With Kind Regards,
Roy G Beran
Congress President
