Instructions for the submission of abstracts

The Organising Committee of the partners 4 learning Conference invites the submission of abstracts for consideration in the Conference program. PSFP school communities are particularly encouraged to submit papers and workshops. Contributions will be peer reviewed and considered as an oral paper or workshop within the Program. A paper is either 30 minutes or 60 minutes in length and a workshop is a 90 minute interactive presentation.

Requirements for the submission of abstracts

  • All abstracts must be original work.
  • Presenting authors/presenters will be required to register for the Conference in order for their abstract to be accepted.
  • All abstracts will be peer reviewed by the Program Committee, which reserves the right to accept or reject abstracts for inclusion in the program. Session Chairs will communicate with authors/presenters regarding minor changes.
  • Abstracts will be grouped by sessions and topics. Please indicate the topic most suitable to your abstract. Please note this does not guarantee that your abstract will be grouped within this topic in the final program.
  • All abstracts must be prepared as per the guidelines provided. Incomplete or incorrect submissions will be returned to the author/presenter and must be resubmitted correctly by the deadline to be considered for presentation.
  • Program themes

    Submissions are invited in the following key theme: Reducing the achievement gap for students from low socio-economic status backgrounds.

    Authors/presenters are required to indicate all key ideas that apply to their submission from the list below:

  • Literacy
  • Numeracy
  • Participation
  • Expectations
  • Home, school and community partnerships
  • Quality teaching and learning
  • Classroom and school organisation and school culture
  • Whole school planning
  • Abstract submission procedure/instructions

    Abstracts must only be submitted via the abstract submission form on the partners 4 learning website in Word format.

    Authors/presenters will be required to use a template document for development of their abstract.

    Abstracts will only be accepted for review if accompanied by a completed Abstract Submission Form and if the author/presenter registers no later than the final abstract submission date of 6 May 2005.

    The online Abstract Submission Form must be fully completed.

    Please print a copy of the form for your records prior to clicking the submit button.

    Do not resubmit your abstract for any reason other than a submission error.

    If you do not receive a confirmation email with your access key and template document attached, please contact the Conference Managers as per the above email address.

    The Conference Managers will not be responsible for abstract submissions not received via the Conference website or for submission errors cause by Internet Service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or natural disasters.
    It will be the responsibility of the submitting author to ensure that the abstract is supplied in full.

    Abstracts on diskettes/CD-Rom will not be accepted.

    Abstract acceptance notification will be sent to presenting authors by 22 May 2005, together with instructions for Full Paper Submission.

    Abstract content

    The purpose of the abstract is to define the precise subject of the presentation to an audience. It is the responsibility of the presenting author to ensure accuracy of content, spelling and presentation, as abstracts will be published exactly as submitted.

    Formatting instructions

    Abstracts must be submitted using Microsoft Word template supplied on the website. The abstract must be submitted as a Word document. Instructions are clearly outlined on the website.

    Printed area must be no more than an A4 page with 2cm margins.

    Abstract text must not exceed 250 words and should be written in the English language. Abstracts exceeding 250 word limit will be rejected.

    All text should be in Times New Roman font style and left justified.

    Title should be in Times New Roman size 14 font bolded and centred.

    Author(s)/Presenter(s) name(s) should be typed in upper and lower case. Initials, followed by the surname, should be used to identify authors (e.g. JR Smith). Underline the name of the presenting author. Superscript numbers may be added to names to denote affiliations.

    Affiliations should be typed in upper and lower case in size 12 font. Different affiliations can be denoted by the use of superscript numbers. In such circumstances each author's name should bear a superscript number denoting the correct affiliation. Do not include degrees or professional titles (e.g. Dr, Prof, etc.).

    Abstract text must be singled-spaced.

    Full paper submissions

    Instructions for submission of full papers, powerpoint presentations and/or workshop materials will be available on the website upon acceptance of the authors abstract.
