Speakers
Therese A. Rando PhD Dr. Rando is a clinical psychologist in Warwick, Rhode Island and is the Clinical Director of The Institute for the Study and Treatment of Loss, which provides mental health services through psychotherapytrainingsupervision, and consultation. The Institute specialises in: loss and grieftraumatic stress; and the psychosocial care of persons with chronic, life-threateningor terminal illnessand the care of their loved ones. Dr. Rando has published 60 works pertaining to the clinical aspects of thanatology.
Dr Joanne Lynn is Director of The Washington Home Center for Palliative Care Studies and President of the public interest organisation, Americans for Better Care of the Dying. Dr Lynn is a geriatrician, former medical director of The Washington Home and Hospice of Washington, and a nationally known expert on end-of-life issues. She was Co-Director of SUPPORT the Study to Understand Prognoses and Preferences for Outcomes and Risks of Treatments and is Co-author of 'Handbook for Mortals: Guidance for People Facing Serious Illness'.
Dr Stein Kaasa Dr. Kaasa is chair of the Palliative Medicine Unit at the Department of OncologyTrondheim Regional Hospital and is Professor of Palliative Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, The Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He is President of the European Association for Palliative Care, and has published widely in the areas of palliative medicine.
Dr Cynthia Goh is the Head of Palliative Medicine, National Cancer Centre
Singapore. She is a member of the Council of the Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative
Care Network, and of the International Association for Hospice & Palliative
Care.
