BridgeClimb

Climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge is an exhilarating experience. Rendezvous at the BridgeClimb office for a safety briefing and prepare for your three- hour adventure! Accompanied by an experienced leader, your small team will cross the catwalk to the pylon and walk up to the summit of the Bridge’s upper arch - 130 metres above sea level. Harnessed to a static line for the duration of the climb, be treated to spectacular 360- degree views across one of the greatest harbours in the world. All BridgeClimbers receive a certificate and group photograph.

Colonial Quarter Walking Tour

OT3A: Wednesday 6 April 2005 1230 –1400hrs
Cost: A$ 35.00 per person

During this walking tour of Australia’s oldest convict settlement – The Rocks, journey back to the 19th century when The Rocks was Sydney’s colourful commercial and maritime quarter. This tour concludes at the Rocks where there is time to enjoy this historic precinct at leisure (return transport not provided).


Colonial Quarter & Harbour Cruise

Australian Wildlife Discovery

Walk through a spacious, open koala enclosure and discover why the cuddly koala is one of the most loved native Australian animals. These passes give you access to a number of attractions, offering convenience and value for money and can be pre- purchased.

Departure Point

All tours except BridgeClimb will be departing from the Main Entrance, Convention Centre North Foyer. All participants are requested to assemble 10 minutes prior to the departure of each tour.

Day Tour Terms and Conditions

These tours, designed by Tour Hosts Destination Management (license No. 2TA001144), are for participating delegates and accompanying persons of the 55th Session of the ISI.

All sightseeing tours include informative English speaking commentary, all entry fees and meals where specified. Comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended for all tours. All tours are based on a minimum number of participants. If minimum numbers are not reached, alternative arrangements or a complete refund will be made. Places on all tours are limited and will be allocated strictly in order of receipt of payment. Where participants cancel their day tour bookings prior to Friday 18 February 2005, payment will be refunded in full. Thereafter, no refund will be made.

PTA: The Dramatic Red Centre

4 Days/ 3 Nights
1 April – 4 April 2005
13 April – 16 April 2005

Called the Heart of the Nation, the ‘Red Centre’ is arid, dramatic, vast, a land of extremes and home of Uluru (Ayers Rock) Australia’s spectacular monolith. Discover other geological wonders such as Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), Kings Canyon and more.

Day 1

Transfer from your hotel to Sydney Airport for the flight to Alice Springs (airfares at own expense). Visit Alice Spring’s legendary Royal Flying Doctor Service and School of the Air.

Day 2: (B, D)

Travel through the West MacDonnell and James Ranges. Visit a camel farm and later stop to view majestic Mt Conner, before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort. In the afternoon tour to Kata Tjuta, where there is time to walk to the Valley of the Winds lookout. View a magnificent outback sunset and enjoy a glass of sparkling wine, followed by a delicious barbeque dinner in the outback.

Day 3: (B)

This morning, journey by coach through sandhill country to Kings Canyon. Hike to the rim of this spectacular Canyon where you will be rewarded with marvellous views of the Watarrka National Park. Alternatively, enjoy an easier walk on the shady Canyon floor.

Day 4: (B)

Rise early this morning to catch the first rays of light over Uluru. Tour the base of the monolith with a guided walk into Mutitjulu Waterhole. Enjoy time at leisure to explore the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. Return to the resort before your departure flight, which must be booked to depart after 13:30pm (airfares at own expense).

PTB: Reef & Rainforest

North of Cairns you’ll discover one of the most beautiful regions of Australia. Here, at the meeting point of an ancient rainforest and the Earth’s largest living coral structure, slow to a unique rhythm found only in Tropical North Queensland.

Day 1

Transfer from hotel to Sydney Airport for the flight to Cairns (airfares at own expense). Transfer from Cairns Airport to your hotel in the beachside village of Palm Cove.

Day 1 (L, D)

This morning depart Sydney for Australia’s premium wine region. Upon arrival in the Hunter Valley, take time to settle into your deluxe accommodation before enjoying lunch in a typical Irish pub. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure, dinner in the resorts award winning restaurant.

Day 2 (B, L)

After breakfast board the Vineyard shuttle and explore some of the 80 wineries in the Hunter Valley Region. After lunch, spend time exploring the 25 hectares of the internationally acclaimed Hunter Valley Gardens. Day 1 (D)

Reef Endeavour and cruise to Fitzroy Island where towering rainforest, giant ferns and native orchids await you. Upon arrival in Brisbane join the shuttle to Harvey Bay for your cruise across to Fraser Island. In the evening participate in one of the ranger guided activities (based on availability)(airfares own expense).

Day 2: (B, L)

Join your expert ranger on your 4WD Fraser Island discovery tour. Learn about the Aboriginal and European history of the island, taste bush food, swim in clear fresh water lakes, walk through towering rainforests and see the magnificent coloured sands.

Day 3: (B)

An early rise for wildlife enthusiasts. Join your ranger on an optional bird watching tour this morning to seek out some of the 350 species of birds on Fraser Island. Alternatively take the opportunity to relax and enjoy the resort facilities.

Day 4: (B)

Transfer via coach to Brisbane airport for your onward flight. Flights should be booked after 1330hrs (airfares at own expense).

Post Conference Tours Terms And Conditions

These tours, designed by Tour Hosts Destination Management (license No. 2TA001144), are for participating delegates and accompanying persons of the 55 th Session of the International Statistical Institute.

Reservations, Bookings And Final Details

Reservations should reach Tour Hosts Destination Management no later than 18 February 2005 and full payment is required at that time. No space on tours will be reserved without payment. Bookings will be acknowledged and participants advised of final details. If minimum numbers are not achieved, alternative arrangements or a complete refund of the published tour price will be made.

Cancellation Fees

Prior to 18 February 2005 the full refund less A$100.00 administration fee. After this date no refunds will be applicable.

Late Fees

If bookings are received for post tours after 18 February 2005, a late fee of A$100.00 per booking will be applicable.
