AP1: Introducing Sydney

Explore the vibrancy and style of cosmopolitan Sydney, one of the world’s most beautiful harbour cities. Discover colonial buildings and cobbled lanes in The Rocks, Sydney’s oldest historical precinct. Enjoy views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House from Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, a waterfront seat carved into the rock for the wife of visionary colonial governor, Lachlan Macquarie. Travel through Sydney’s fashionable Eastern suburbs, renowned for their elegant homes and harbour vistas, on the way to Bondi Beach, one of Australia’s most famous beaches.

OT1: Pre-Conference Golf Day
Riverside Oaks Golf Club

Time: 0630 – 1500hrs
On the outskirts of Sydney, Riverside Oaks is set in 587 acres of unspoilt natural bushland bordered by the Hawkesbury River and wildlife reserve.

Today, Riverside Oaks has a reputation for quality that attracts golfers and visitors from across Australia and around the world

The 18-hole par 72 championship course is 6,311 metres long and is rated amongst the top courses in Australia. Immaculate presentation, expansive greens and world class facilities provides one of Sydney’s finest resort courses.

The course layout is designed for golfers of all standards offering a challenging rewarding game in a quiet, natural bushland setting.

Inclusions: 18 holes of golf at Riverside Oaks Golf Course, return transfers from the Hilton Hotel, green fees, motorised buggy, morning tea, balls and tees, light food and refreshments following the game, competition management and golf prizes. A limited supply of clubs are available for hire.

OT2: Post-Conference Golf Day
The Killara Golf Club
Thursday 4 May 2006
Cost: A$200.00 per person
Time: 1030 – 1830hrs

As one of Australia’s first golf clubs, the Killara Golf Club is steeped in history and is home to one of Sydney’s premier golf courses, regularly rated amongst Australia’s top 100 courses. It is ideally located just 14km from the city in a tranquil garden setting.

Following a challenging round of golf at Killara, guests can relax in the atmospheric bar and enjoy an informal BBQ in the attractive courtyard overlooking the course and beautiful landscaped gardens.

Inclusions: 18 holes of golf at Killara Golf Club, return transfers from the Hilton Hotel, green fees, balls and tees, light cold lunch and refreshments, chef cooked BBQ dinner following the round of golf, competition management and golf prizes. Some motorised buggies will be provided but the course does not have enough for all players. A limited supply of clubs are also available for hire.

OT3: Coffee Cruise on Sydney Harbour
Date: Cruise available twice daily throughout the conference
Time: 1000hrs and 1415hrs
Cost: $44.00 per person
The Captain Cook Main and Middle Harbour Coffee Cruise departs daily from Sydney’s centrally located Circular Quay at both 1000 hrs and 1415 hrs. Onboard, take in all the splendid Harbour attractions including the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and Fort Denison. This award-winning cruise also explores the upper reaches of Middle Harbour with its natural parklands, inner harbour beaches, marinas and waterfront homes. Cruise duration: 2 hours and 20 minutes. Please note you will need to make your own way to Jetty 6, Circular Quay (Circular Quay is walking distance or a short taxi ride from the Conference venue) .

OT4: Australian Wildlife
Date: Monday 1 May 2006
Time: 1230 – 1600hrs
Cost: $72.00 per person
Walk through a spacious, open koala enclosure and discover why the cuddly koala is one of the most loved and unique native Australian animals. The name is an Aboriginal word meaning “no water” - referring to the koala’s ability to meet its moisture requirements from a diet of gum leaves. Be photographed with a koala (at your own expense) and hand feed the free-roaming kangaroos. Meet other native animals including emus, wallabies, wombats and echidnas – at one of Sydney’s premier wildlife parks.

OT5: BridgeClimb
Date: Tuesday 2 May 2005
Time: 1100 – 1400hrs
Cost: $165.00 per person
Climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge is an exhilarating experience. Rendezvous at the BridgeClimb office for a safety briefing and prepare for your three-hour adventure! Accompanied by an experienced leader your small team will cross the catwalk to the pylon and walk up to the summit of the Bridge’s upper arch - 130 metres above sea level. Harnessed to a static line for the duration of the climb, be treated to spectacular 360-degree views across one of the greatest harbours in the world. Participants are required to make their own way to the BridgeClimb office. Directions will be provided at the time of booking. BridgeClimb is available on other dates and at other times through the Conference. Please contact the Conference Managers should you wish to arrange an alternative time.

OT6: Blue Mountains 4WD Adventure
Date: Wednesday 2 May 2006

Let us take you off the beaten track on an intimate adventure tour of the Blue Mountains. Experience the magical beauty of the Australian bush, ancient landscapes and native flora and fauna – less than two hours from Sydney. Enjoy lunch in a leafy setting and breathe in the essence of the Australian eucalyptus whilst enjoying panoramic views of the famous Three Sisters. Learn how to throw a boomerang and play the Didgeridoo and get up close to kangaroos, koalas, reptiles and birds at one of Australia’s award winning wildlife parks.

OT7: Sailing on Sydney Harbour
Date: Thursday 4 May 2006
Time: 1300 – 1730hrs
Cost: $175.00
Experience the thrill of yacht racing on the world famous Sydney Harbour. After a safety briefing and instruction with an experienced skipper, it’s time to practice maneuvers before the race begins! This exciting afternoon of sailing is perfect for complete beginners, while still challenging for experienced sailors. Back on terra firma, teams will meet up to enjoy a celebratory drink. Includes all instruction, equipment and post regatta refreshment.

Day Tour Terms and Conditions
These tours, designed by Tour Hosts Destination Management (licence No. 2TA001144), are for participating delegates and accompanying persons of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association 2006 Conference.

All sightseeing tours include informative commentary in English, all entry fees and meals where specified. Comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended for all tours. For any outdoor tours we recommend that participants bring sun protection cream, sunhat and sunglasses.

All tours are based on a minimum number of participants. If minimum numbers are not reached, alternative arrangements or a complete refund will be made. Places on all tours are limited and will be allocated strictly in order of receipt of payment. Where participants cancel their day tour bookings prior to 1 March 2006, payment will be refunded in full. Thereafter, no refund will be made.

PTA: Reef and Rainforest

A relaxing tour to Far North Queensland based in the beachside village of Palm Cove. Features a full day cruise to the Great Barrier Reef where participants can snorkel alongside a marine biologist, learn to scuba dive or view tropical fish from a semi-submersible. Also includes a trip to the World Heritage Daintree National Park.
