A Message from the Co-Chairs of the Inaugural CSANZ Conference on Indigenous Cardiovascular Health 2009

The CSANZ Indigenous Cardiovascular Health Conference promises to provide an exceptional platform for combining political, social and medical expertise to address the significant life expectancy gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Australia and New Zealand. This conference is the first of its kind, and is unique in its content, format and scope.

Sessions will cover a range of issues relevant to Indigenous Cardiovascular Health, and an outstanding faculty of speakers have agreed to join us. Invited presentations will discuss International Perspectives, Determinants of Cardiovascular Disease, Rheumatic Heart Disease, Improving Access to Cardiovascular Health Care, and Acute and Chronic Coronary Disease in Indigenous populations. Invited presentations will be followed by panel-led discussions welcoming contributions from the audience. We intend these presentations and discussions to form the basis of practical and original policy recommendations.

We are very excited about the quality of the scientific program, and the enthusiasm and energy that this meeting is generating. Please join us for what should be a landmark conference.
