By Road - If approaching from the south, the F3 freeway from Sydney will have you arriving in Newcastle in just 2 hours.
By Air - Newcastle airport (Williamtown) is the major regional airport and is located 30 minutes from Newcastle city centre. Many direct flights are available on a daily basis from Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
By Rail - Newcastle is part of the CityRail Network. There are frequent return services daily. Countrylink trains connect Newcaslte to Sydney, Brisbane and other country centres.
State Transit buses (blue and white buses operating in Newcastle City) are free within the inner city zone along Hunter Street from the Catholic Cathedral to Newcastle Railway Station, and as far south as Bull Street on Darby Street. This fare free zone operates between 7:30am and 6:00pm seven days a week. Normal fares apply for travel outside of this zone. Please ask the bus driver if you are unsure of the route or destination.

Newcastle Airport is not accessible via State Transit Buses. Port Stephens Coaches service runs between Newcastle Airport from Newcastle Station 11 times a day during the week, and 5 times a day on weekends. The congress venue is in close proximity to public transport, the CBD and parking.
Various bistros, restaurants, cafes, bars and coffee shops are available within walking distance of Newcastle City Hall.
Shops open from 0900 to 1730 hours during the week with late night shopping on Thursday. On Saturday, most shops open from 0900 to 1600. The Hunter Mall is also nearby to the Congress venue and easily accessible.
In June, Newcastle is 10 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time and uses Australian Eastern Standard Time.
Newcastle in June is on average between 9°C -16°C, and is generally cool and dry, so ensure you bring clothes suitable to this climate. The Congress will welcome professionals from numerous focal areas and associations so we request that delegates dress in smart casual or professional wear when attending the Congress.
