General Policies and Requirements for the Submission of Abstracts
All abstracts must contain original work that has not previously been reported.
The presenting author must submit the abstract.
The presenting author will be required to register and pay for the Meeting to ensure their abstract(s) are included in the final program.
Deadline for Author Registration is 15 July 2005
All abstracts must be prepared according to the guidelines provided. Incomplete or incorrect submissions will be returned to the author and must be resubmitted immediately in the correct format to be considered for inclusion in the program.
Audio-Visual Equipment
Please note that for all oral presentations only Data Projection (PowerPoint) will be available for use by speakers.
Poster Presentations
Posters will be a part of the extensive program and will be displayed within the Exhibition area.
Preparation of Posters
Posters should meet the following criteria:
Size
Posters should be no larger than 1m x 1m. Posters larger than these dimensions will exceed the display board; it is therefore necessary that the poster adhere to the specified measurements.
Lettering
The poster should be easily readable at a distance of two metres. Use UPPER and lower case for general content as the use of all-capital text is difficult to read. Avoid using mixtures of type/font styles. Left justify text as it is easier on the eyes of the reader.
Abstract Format
Abstracts must be submitted using the Microsoft Word template supplied on this website. The abstract must be submitted as a word document.
The Abstract must not exceed the one-page limit. Abstracts exceeding the word limit will be returned for resubmission.
Title
The abstract title should be in Title Case, bold and right and left justified.
Authors
The Authors' names should be typed in the Authors' section, under the abstract title. All authors are to be listed by their initials, followed by last name (e.g. B Smith). Underline the name of the presenting author. The affiliations should be typed under the list of authors' names. Each author should indicate institute, city, state and country. Do not include degrees or professional titles (e.g. Dr, Prof., etc). Authors on several abstracts must ensure that their name and affiliations are consistent between the different submissions.
For example:
B Smith
University of Sydney, Sydney, NSW, Australia
If the authors come from more than one affiliation, superscript numbers should be used to indicate the correct affiliation. For example;
B Smith1, MJ Pattermore1,2 , LC Ward2
1University of Sydney, Sydney, NSW, Australia
2University of Queensland, St Lucia, QLD, Australia
Abstract text must be in Times New Roman font, 12pt size, single-spaced and justified. Leave a line between sections but do not indent.
Use standard abbreviations only. Within the body of the abstract, when using abbreviations spell out the name in full at the first mention and follow with the abbreviation in parenthesis. Abbreviations may be used in the title, provided the name in full is outlined in the body of the abstract.
Capitalise the first letter of trade names.
Compliance to the specifications is imperative - any abstract that does not comply with these specifications will not be accepted for review.
