Invitation from Federal President, ADA
I am delighted to invite you to the 31st Australian Dental Congress to be
held in Adelaide from the 3rd to the 7th of March, 2005.
The theme of the Congress, “Generations in Dentistry”, will appeal to all in the dental profession as it seeks to address issues relating to three defined ages – birth to twenty-four years; twenty-five to fifty-five years; and fifty-six years and beyond. The issues, the challenges and the possible solutions to oral care for each of these groups will be presented over the three and a half days of the scientific program.
In addition, the supporting scientific sessions will draw on a diverse range of presenters who will expand on the main theme with specialist, general practitioner and dental team perspectives adding to the keynote speakers. The Congress will culminate with the ‘Great Dental Hypothetical” moderated by the well known science presenter, Dr Norman Swan, who will work with a team of dental and non-dental luminaries to resolve a tricky dental scenario.
The Australian Dental Industry Association will stage a Dental Exhibition in conjunction with the Congress and this promises to be one of the biggest and best held in Adelaide. There has not been an Australian Dental Congress since 2001 and the ADIA and its members are keen to display their expertise and large range of dental equipment and materials to the profession.
No Australian Dental Congress would be complete without a comprehensive social program and Adelaide will showcase the delights of South Australian hospitality starting with the Opening Ceremony and Welcome Supper through to the Gala Dinner Dance and beyond.
I hope you all enjoy this challenging and stimulating Congress!
David Houghton, Federal President, ADA
Invitation from Chairman of Local Organising Committee
The 31st Australian Dental Association National Congress will be held in
Adelaide, South Australia, in March 2005. The theme of Generations in Dentistry
will cover the issues affecting the different age groups of our patients,
namely child, young adult, adult and the aged. Various topical issues will
be highlighted including current and prospective treatment philosophies.
Current and emerging technologies will be discussed in relation to their
relevance to clinical practice. To provide the most up to date information,
lecturers of eminence in their fields have been sourced from both overseas
and locally. The Local Organising Committee has also been able to coordinate
with various associated groups who have arranged either educational or joint
social events around this wonderful national gathering.
March traditionally is blessed with superb autumn weather featuring warm days and balmy evenings, which allows us to showcase South Australian hospitality. The carefully tailored social program has been crafted for delegates and accompanying persons, with something to appeal to everyone. A highlight will be the Gala Dinner Dance to be held at the historic Adelaide Oval on the outskirts of the city centre near the banks of the Torrens. The sporting program has been designed for both the true sports aficionado and those who wish to experience a more leisurely activity. Tours for accompanying persons take the visitor around both Adelaide and its surrounds, with cultural, sightseeing and tasting options.
The venue chosen to host this event is the Adelaide Convention Centre located on North Terrace, Adelaide. The Centre has undergone major updating since the last Adelaide Congress. A massive floor-space will accommodate the innovative associated Dental Trade Industry display. There will be ample space for the profession to experience the new technologies and materials that are showcased at these events.
The Local Organising Committee looks forward to welcoming you to Adelaide to this wonderful gathering. It will be a great opportunity to enrich our clinical knowledge, view new technology and renew past friendships while making many new ones in the convivial surroundings.
Karin Alexander, Chairman, Local Organising Committee
Invitation from Federal President, ADIA
The Australian Dental Industry Association is very happy to be working together
with the Australian Dental Association to produce the major event on the
2005 Australian dental calendar.
The ‘Generations in Dentistry’ Congress program will be complemented by a major exhibition in the magnificent Halls of the Adelaide Convention Centre, showcasing the latest and greatest in dental technology on offer to Australian dentistry.
We look forward to your company in Adelaide and to discussing your dental requirements in the Exhibition Halls.
Yours sincerely
Keith Mentiplay, Federal President, ADIA
